To maintain a Heart hoya plant please provide bright, indirect light and allow the soil to dry out between waterings, typically every 10–14 days. Use a fast-draining potting mix, preferably a mix of potting soil, orchid bark, and perlite. Maintain high humidity, ideal temperatures of 18–24°C (65–75°F), and avoid cutting off leafless, blooming spurs (peduncles).
Light: Provide bright, indirect light; too little causes sparse growth, while too much direct sun can burn leaves.
Water: Let the soil dry out significantly between waterings; when the leaves start to pucker, it is definitely time to water.
Soil: Use a well-draining, airy mix (e.g., potting soil + orchid bark + perlite) to prevent root rot.
Humidity & Temperature: Appreciate high humidity, but adapt well to average home conditions. Keep temperatures between 18-24°C (65-75°F).
Fertilising: Apply a balanced fertiliser (often orchid feed) during spring and summer, every few weeks.
Maintenance: Do not remove the leafless flower stalks (peduncles), as they will bloom again from the same spot.
Common Issues:
Yellowing Leaves/Rot: Indicates overwatering.
Wilting/Shrivelling: Likely underwater or low humidity.
No Blooms: Often due to insufficient light.
